When Abortion is Okay for Republicans

WOW. What "Lucky" Bill Bennett said yesterday is quite simply... astounding. You can judge for yourselves:
BENNETT: Well, I don't think it is either, I don't think it is either, because first of all, there is just too much that you don't know. But I do know that it's true that if you wanted to reduce crime, you could -- if that were your sole purpose, you could abort every black baby in this country, and your crime rate would go down. That would be an impossible, ridiculous, and morally reprehensible thing to do, but your crime rate would go down. So these far-out, these far-reaching, extensive extrapolations are, I think, tricky.
Sure, Lucky Bill backs off with that little bit at the end, but my point? He's clearly thought of this scenario somewhere in the back of his mind. Eugenics, it always seems to never be all that far from the surface.

Of course, there's more to it: Lucky Bill's caller was trying to make the bizzare point that if women had just done their job and given birth to all the babies not carried to term because they had abortions, that these 'unborn Americans' could have helped solve the Social Security "Crisis." Yes, that is what goes for 'critical thinking' in this country these days. Lucky Bennett doesn't come right out and say it, but he implies that most of these folks wouldn't have been 'productive' i.e., they would have fed the "welfare state." See, Republicans do ♥ abortion.
